about

It was almost exactly three years ago that Basy Tropikalne released 'The Change' - a raw and catchy EP that was heard everywhere from Radar Radio to Red Bull Music Radio and landed in the sets of respected DJs all around the world. Its author was DJ Doraemon, a young Portuguese producer of Cape Verdean descent, who went on to start playing at the parties of the two most established Lisbon crews - Príncipe and Enchufada - and was even mentioned in the Resident Advisor article enlisting '15 Lisbon artists you need to know about'.

Now DJ Doraemon is back with a new effort - an EP called 'African Voices'. The release brings his usual mixture of rough electronic music and kuduro/batida references resulting in the characteristic ghetto sound enriched by obscure vocal snippets and unusual samples (just wait for that bird chirping on 'Tayla').

Get ready for the hard-hitting journey to the outskirts of Lisbon!
